Race Policies

Please read the Policies before you register for the race.


9K and 6K Run:  

  • Runners must wear shoes and necessary running attire.  
  • Runners may wear ONE earbud.
  • Please obey routine traffic directions, as well as specific requests from Siskiyou Challenge Volunteers. 
  • Above all, run safely!
     

3K Kayak:

  • Coast Guard approved life jackets are REQUIRED AND MUST BE WORN.  
  • All life jackets are subject to inspection, and if found to be unfit, could lead to disqualification.
  • One person must paddle the boat with a single paddle as the sole means of propulsion.  
  • Kayakers must be capable of swimming if their kayak tips, or be able to sit on top of the kayak.  
  • Kayaks, stand up paddleboards, surfski’s, or any watercraft powered with only one handheld paddle is allowed.  
  • Paddlers must be able to handle their craft in all conditions. Rowers may wear ONE earbud.
  • Wear appropriate clothing for the weather or possible immersion in the water.
  • Oregon Invasive Species permits are required for crafts 10 feet and up in length.

30K Cycle:

  • Helmets are mandatory. For safety reasons, no earbuds permitted on this leg.
  • Only one racer must do each road bike leg. 
  • Bikes must be in good condition. 
  • Tri bars are allowed.  Fairings will not be allowed.  
  • Bikes may not receive assistance or spare parts from anyone after their leg of the race has started.  
  • Riders are required to stay as close as possible to the white line or right shoulder of the road, absolutely no crossing of the center line. 
  • Drafting is permitted.
  • ALL RACERS MUST OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS, ALL TRAFFIC MONITORS AND RACE VOLUNTEERS.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL MEAN DISQUALIFICATION.
  • Police are there to stop traffic, not to direct racers. Race volunteers will direct racers.
  • Ride SAFE!
     

13K Mt Bike:

  • Helmets are mandatory.  For safety reasons, no earbuds permitted on this leg.
  • Biking gloves are highly recommended.  
  • Bikes must be in good condition.  
  • Fairings will not be allowed.  
  • Cyclocross and road style bikes will not be allowed.  
  • Use caution when overtaking another rider, make your presence known well in advance and allow the rider to find a safe spot to allow passing.
  • Maintain control at all times.
  • Yield to other non-motorized recreationists.
  • Stay on designated trails and follow the flagged path. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN RACER’S DISQUALIFICATION.
     

GENERAL POLICY:

  • Only registered racers are allowed on the racecourse. We discourage non-racers from taking space on the racecourse out of respect for other racers.
  • We are not responsible for late arrivals and hold the right to refuse any entry after staging and transition areas are closed.
  • If any racer is doing one or more legs for more than one team, they must do that leg at a separate time for each team.
  • Bikes and watercraft must be placed in proper transition location during the allotted staging time. 
  • Please respect the event management and volunteers; profanity will not be tolerated.
  • Please do not litter. Respect public and private property.
  • Support is permitted before the start and in the transitions. While on the racecourse all racers will be self-sufficient.
  • No refunds will be given for any reason.
